Back to the meeting, I asked in the end when the grant money is used up, who will pay to have it finished (the rest) to which I was told, the taxpayers. Family has been good for quite some time but now corn is almost one half of what it once was, while soybeans remain pretty high, but possibly farming (farmers) are just maybe looking to see tougher times ahead and this is just another one of those projects that Rush County taxpayers just don’t need. Are we to become like our neighbors to the north that can’t patch potholes on their county roads because of just like this over spending on frivolous projects.
If we have so much spare money, perhaps we need to be improving our roads, widening and smoothing and replacing culverts that are too narrow.
A dainty deadly weapon?
I just saw on Indy television, Channel 13, as a part of a story about the NRA, a semi-automatic pistol with pink grips. It looked really obscene. A deadly man-killer weapon dressed up in dainty feminine trim.
By the way, the guns now called semi-automatic were, from their invention and for decades after, called “automatics.” Even the gun manufacturers so referred to them. After firing, such guns (Famous example: Colt Model 1911 .45 Automatic Pistol) automatically ejected the empty and placed a live round in the chamber.
Machine guns, an entirely different breed, were highly illegal in a more sane era.
