Writer sounds off on Moscow church
Dear Editor:
As a member of Moscow Christian Church, I am offended by the remark made in Rants and Raves about nothing being done in regards to the church building. The leadership of the church is working diligently to decide what direction to go in this matter.
Following the tornado, we, as a congregation, were in shock, as well as the rest of the community over the devastation this storm created. They were also very concerned over a member of our church who was critically injured. The leadership of the church focused on the needs of the community as well as the needs of the congregation. People, not a building, were put first.
In the past few months, these men have worked very hard to work with the insurance company to come to an agreement on the existing building. The building (sanctuary) is extensively damaged and will require a lot of work, not to mention the building is not handicapped accessible nor is the electric wiring up to code. The leadership is looking at every possibility to decide what will be done. Whether we build a new building or restore the sanctuary is up to the leadership, not an individual that wants to make crass remarks through a newspaper.
In closing, I am very proud of the leadership of Moscow Christian Church. These men are taking charge of the situation and considering every aspect of this situation. As a congregation, it is our duty to support the leadership in their decision. A building is just a building, it is the people that make the body of the church.
Not afraid to sign my name to this,
Barbara Richey
