Flatrock celebrating Nursing Home Week

Visit a loved one, friend or neighbor

RUSHVILLE — In observance of Nursing Home Week, May 12 to 18, Flatrock River Lodge will host several events, meant to encourage residents, families and other close relatives to “Get personal” with their caregivers. Sharing personal details allows the facility care team to offer a personalized environment, or person-centered care, that is targeted to an individual’s preferences and needs. Thus, this year’s theme is “Team Care: Everyone Pitches In!”

The facility will hold several events to highlight Team Care week, including from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., today for a residents and family picnic, ice cream social, circus outing and more.

Mayor Mike Pavey issued the following proclamation

Whereas, our beloved citizens of the City of Rushville now residing in nursing homes, skilled nursing care and post-acute care centers have contributed immeasurably to the heritage, success and growth of our community; and

Whereas, nursing home residents of any age or ability are themselves living history and a precious resource; and

Whereas, member skilled nursing care centers of the American Health Care Association and the Flatrock River Lodge are holding events in observance of Nursing Home Week guided by this year’s national theme of “Team Care: Everyone Pitches In!” and

Whereas, Nursing Home Week begins on Mother’s Day, May 12 and ends on May 18, 2013;

Now, Therefore, I, Michael P. Pavey, as Mayor of the City of Rushville, urge everyone in the community to visit their loved one, friend or neighbor currently residing at the Flatrock River Lodge to show respect for all that they have given to society and to us. Let no elderly and disabled person sit alone during this time to wonder if they are valued, appreciated and loved. Visiting or volunteering your time at the Flatrock River Lodge is a testament to community spirit, brings honor to our fathers, mothers, grandparents and everyone in residence and lifts the spirits of caregivers who value your involvement.
