It is time to go on a hunt, a FIT Safari, to be exact. On Wednesday, July 25, the Fitness Initiative Team will be searching for the Rushville Lions.
All interested persons should meet next to the Amphitheater in Riverside Park at 7 p.m. to join in. Current plans are to explore downtown, swing up to 5th Street and back to the Amphitheater. How many Lions will be found? Ê
And, how far will you walk and how much fun will you have? Be sure to come join FIT, it is open to the public.
City Council member Brian Sheehan has agreed to make sure that those participating don't miss any lions, plus will provide extra information for each one.
This will be the 25th walking activity sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. They have explored cemeteries, the Nature Center, Rushville parks, hidden treasures and city streets. They are even meeting weekly at Anytime Fitness. F.I.T. Walkabouts are a series of walking opportunities designed to get Rush County out and walking. Walkabouts are held on various days, times and in different locations.
Future walks include 7 p.m., July 30 for the 7th Street Stroll. Meet at 7th and Main streets.
On Aug. 2, meet at 9 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Rush County parking lot for the Back to School Walk (it is school registration day.) Ê
Schools will also be featured in the walk on Aug. 6, but they won't all be in use. Meet at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's parking lot. Aug. 8 will be a Cemetery Saunter at East Hill. Meet at 5:30 p.m. on the backside of Section 14 (SE corner of the cemetery). The mission of the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County is to promote and encourage a more fit and active lifestyle for residents of Rush County of all ages. The F.I.T. planning committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 30, at the Boys and Girls Club. This meeting is open to all interested persons. Suggestions for future walkabouts are welcome.
