The Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County announces Spring Training, a six-week training program to prepare for a season of walking and running and a lifetime of increased activity. Spring Training is a schedule that starts with a light walk on Monday, March 18, and concludes by participating in the Mayor’s Run/Walk on Saturday, April 27.
It is primarily do-it-yourself, but 6 p.m. at the Rush County Schools track will be the default time. The track is available for use by the public whenever it is not being used by students. Track practice should be over by 6 p.m. on most days. On days with home track meets, please use the fitness trails in Memorial Park. In case of weather conflicts, participants should use their own judgment.
Copies of the schedule can be obtained from the Rush County Extension Office in Room 103 of the courthouse or by calling 932-5974. You can also email a request to firstname.lastname@example.org. It will also be posted on the Purdue Extension-Rush County website at www.extension.purdue/rush and on facebook - Partners for a Healthy Rush County.
F.I.T. is one of the action teams of Rush County’s health coalition - Partners for a Healthy Rush County. The mission of the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County is to promote and encourage a more fit and active lifestyle for residents of Rush County of all ages. Spring Training can be done by participating with others, or on your own. The key is to make progress toward a more active lifestyle.
