RUSHVILLE — Dr. Daas was recently certified by the American Board of Family Practice. Medical doctors in the United States volunteer to become medical specialty certified. Board certification shows that the physician has taken the extra steps to receive further education and expertise in a particular medical specialty or subspecialty. The American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Medical Association recognize 24 specialty boards. For a physician to receive board certification he must pass a written examination. Also 15 of the 24 specialty boards require an oral examination as well. In addition, some boards require a physician to have actual work experience in the practice field before applying for certification. Dr. Daas sees patients at Rush Memorial Hospital Healthcare Associates.
