---- — Meridian Health Services has been awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand primary healthcare in east central Indiana.
The U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced $150 million in awards under the Affordable Care Act to support 236 new health center sites across the country. These investments will help care for approximately1.25 million additional patients. Meridian is one of six health centers chosen for this award which totals $866,667.
Meridian Health Services is a regional healthcare system serving over 16,000 patients in 26 counties with 13 primary locations providing whole person health integrating physical, mental and social well-being. Meridian is pleased to be recognized and awarded as a key site in this region to help expand access to healthcare.
Health centers are key partners in improving access to quality, affordable health care for those who need it most.
“This is a great opportunity for the community of Rushville,” says Hank A. Milius, President/CEO, Meridian Health Services. “This resource will go a long way in ensuring healthcare services to Rushville and east central Indiana. With this award, we will be able to expand our current services of primary medical care, behavioral health and social services to reach even more patients who need it.”
Over the last several years, the state of Indiana has not received any New Access Point awards. Until this recent 2013 NAP cycle, Indiana was awarded only 6 grants throughout the state. “Meridian is honored to be a recipient of this award to be able to continue our work in providing whole person, integrated healthcare at our Rushville site,” says Amelia Clark, VP of Community Health, Meridian Health Services.
In 2011, Meridian Health Services acquired Family Health Services to create a “whole person” health concept for its patients by integrating primary medical care with Meridian’s expertise in behavioral health and human services. Now Meridian Health Services - Rushville offers a holistic approach that takes into consideration physical, mental and social health of each individual patient.
