---- — Concerned about falling? A Matter of Balance can help reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falling. This award winning program is designed to reduce the feat of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls.
A Matter of Balance utilitizes volunteer coaches to teach the eight two-hour sessions.
Classes are scheduled at Shelby Senior Services, Inc., 1504 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks for two hours each session, 1-3 p.m. on Aug. 27, 29, Sept. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, and 19.
This series of classes will help participants learn to: View falls and fear of falling as controllable set realistic goals for increasing activity change their environment to reduce fall risk factors promote exercise to increase strength and balance. There is no cost, however, donations would be appreciated to offset the health promotions grant that allows this type of programming for seniors.
