Rush County Community Foundation elects three new board members

Three new board members have been elected and graciously accepted the opportunity to serve on the Rush County Community Foundation Board of Directors. The new members will start their terms in January 2007.

Deborah A. (Deb) Hassler is a personal banker at Wells Fargo Bank in Rushville. She and her husband Ron live in the Rushville area. She has three grown children, Anne Zachery, Michael Weidner and Adam Weidner and three grandchildren. A member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she serves on various committees, she also enjoys reading, walking and spending time with her family.

This is her second time to serve on the Foundation’s Board as she served previously from 1995 through 2000. Her response to being asked why she agreed to serve again was “The Board is a wonderful way to serve the many people in Rush County. I’m looking forward to getting reacquainted with the workings of the Foundation and spreading the word. It’s exciting to be involved in something that touches so many lives and will continue forever.”

Albert A. (Al) Hodge is a retired school teacher having taught all 35 years of his career in the Rush County School system at Rushville Consolidated High School. He and his wife, Sue, live in the Rushville area and have four grown children, Joanna, Jack, Jamie and Kelly and seven grandchildren. Al is active and enjoys working with the Rush County Historical Society volunteering many hours. He also keeps involved with a variety of environmental causes and is a member of Rushville Lodge No. 1307, B.P.O.E.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Depauw University and his Masters degree from Indiana University. Both degrees are in history. His response when asked why he accepted a position on the Foundation Board was “To do what I can to help the Foundation continue to reach its goals.”
