80th birthday: Bernard Spaeth

RUSHVILLE — Bernard Spaeth will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Aug. 13. He was born in Franklin County to John and Hilda (Geis) Spaeth.

After graduation from Brookville High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict.

On Aug. 28, 1954, he married Betty Ritzi, his wife of nearly 58 years.

Upon his honorable discharge from the air force, he and Betty began their farming career in rural Franklin County. Soon after, they settled in southern Rush County and began their current dairy operation.

Bernard and Betty are the proud parents of seven sons: David (Debbie), Richard (Regina), Mike (Karen), Bill (Julie), Jim (Darlene), Chuck (Debbie) and Bengie (Lisa) Spaeth, and six daughters, Patty (Richard) Schultz, Eileen (Gary) Clemons, Connie (Jeff) Amos, Jeannie (Brian) Sutter, Ann (Joe)

Robben, and Jennifer (Darren) Hoeing.

They are also the proud grandparents of 46 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
