Lugar hosts Indiana military veterans/retiree Appreciation Day

U. S. Sen. Dick Lugar and the Military/Veterans Coalition of Indiana encouraged Hoosier veterans to attend Indiana Military Veterans/Retiree Appreciation Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Department of Defense Finance Center. The Finance Center is located at 8899 East 56th Street in Indianapolis and is handicapped accessible.

In cooperation with the Military Veterans Coalition of Indiana, Lugar invited a variety of veterans’ organizations as well as state and federal agencies to provide information to veterans about healthcare, benefits and finances. Participants include the Veterans Administration, National Guard Family Programs, Small Business Administration and many veterans’ service organizations.

“I am pleased to provide a forum where members of the military, veterans and their families can obtain helpful information,” Lugar said. “I urge Hoosiers to take advantage of the many resources that will be available at Veterans/Retiree Appreciation Day.”

Lieutenant General Charles Stenner, Chief of the United States Air Force Reserve, will offer a keynote address at 12:30 p.m. during a luncheon. The cost of lunch is $12 and reservations are required. Attendees should RSVP to Phillis Gillespie at (317) 891-7177.

“The Military/Veterans Coalition of Indiana is excited to join with Senator Lugar to offer assistance to Hoosier veterans, retirees and military families,” Ron Martin, Coalition president said.

The 801st CSR, United States Army Reserve will host a community health fair including flu shots, blood pressure screenings and other services.
