n The Nelons from Georgia will be singing at First Southern Baptist Church, 1159 S. Airport Road, Rushville at 7 p.m. today. Pastor Jeff Edwards and the congregation invite everyone to attend. For more information call 938-9196.

n The Rush County Health Department will conduct its next immunization clinic for children from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. today in Room 105 of the Rush County Courthouse. These are free of charge from the Indiana State Department of Health. Parents or guardians are required to sign permission forms. Records of previous immunizations should be brought in with the child. These clinics are held the first Thursday of each month. Questions may be directed to 765-932-3103, Rush County Health Department.

SATURDAY (10/3)

n Clean Green Rush Tox-Away Center, located just beyond the animal shelter on Smiley Avenue, will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday to accept household hazardous waste from Rush County residents. Call 765-938-1342 for details.

n The Blue River Community Harvest, Inc. of Carthage is pleased to host its annual COAT GIVEAWAY from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harvest building, 9462 N. Carthage Pike. Persons needing winter coats and jackets will also be welcome to choose five winter outfits from the clothing collection. Family members who wish to receive coats and clothing must be present. n The Rushville K of C will host a chicken fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday with karaoke from 8 p.m. to close. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. All you can eat (dine-in only). Carry-outs available. Public invited.

n The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host an Indiana Trapper Education course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Rushville Conservation Club. Pre-registration is requested by calling (765) 647-5835.

n The Rush County Schools Board of Trustees will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the East Central Education Service Center, 1601 Indiana Avenue, Connersville, to conduct a work session that will include discussion on long-range planning.

WEDNESDAY (10/7)

n Rush County Heritage will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, 270 W. 15th Street, Rushville. Everyone is invited.

n Hint Hunters Homemakers Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Betsy Fox, 1109 North Main Street, Rushville, with Rochelle Christan as cohostess. Roll call will be “scariest movie or moment” and program “cooking with nuts and chocolate” will be given by Mary Hartzler.
