The Rushville Rotary Club met Tuesday at Flatrock Grill.
The weekly free meal was awarded to Bill Todd and Norm Voiles for all their work at the chicken fry and raffle. Julie Smith was the Mystery Person responsible for this worthy dual selection.
It was reported that at the recent district conference our club won the District Governor’s Citation as well as the Rotary International Presidential Citation. This is something all local Rotarians can and should be proud of.
Brag for a Buck included Julie Smith on RMH and Brian's Cause and the RMH Foundation having a short blurb on WFYI. Nancy Rice paid a dollar to report that the RMH Foundation will have a chicken fry May 17 and she has tickets. Bill Griffis bragged that he forgot to take his ID to vote and had to go home and try to remember where he put it. Bill Todd said he was looking forward to no political ads for a short time. Jack Clarkson was pleased that he has his first new buffalo of the season. John Worth reported that his grandson was baptized in Chicago last weekend and said the Democrat funny farm will leave the state this evening and that he’s glad to see it and all the hullabaloo along with it go. Norm Voiles bragged on Mr. Hadley for being a big help with Teacher Appreciation Day and on Bill Todd for helping him figure out which piece of the chicken served at noon was white meat and which was dark meat. Ron Lienemann boasted on the political aspects of the recent election, especially Steve Sickbert’s sign in Milroy.
Sergeant-at-Arms Dr. John Williams was up next. Those fined included Bill Griffis for his brag, which he should have been ashamed of. Anyone wearing green was fined; Dr. John noted that on election day the colors should be red, white and blue. All who were applauded when they came in were penalized (Jason Clemmons, who came in late, was so welcomed).
Finally, President Markus Strobl gave a report on district conference.
With the day’s meal enjoyed and business taken care of the meeting adjourned so those participating could visit local schools for the presentation of gifts to local educators in conjunction with Rotary’s annual Teacher Appreciation project.
