For the second consecutive year, The Sampler in Homer is sponsoring a “Give Back” promotion during the month of April. Customers who shop in the Homer store April 1 through 30 and spend at least $25 on in stock, floor merchandise will be able to designate a charitable organization to which The Sampler will donate 20 percent of the customer’s purchase price.

“We were so pleased with this event last year. In 2008, this promotion enabled us to donate over $900 to 16 different charitable groups designated by our customers. Locally, those groups receiving donations in honor of our customers included First Presbyterian Church, Rush County Community Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Rushville, Rush County Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Relay For Life, Rushville Victims Assistance, Family Health Services, Little Blue River Church of Christ, Elks Clothe a Child, Arlington Christian Church, and Rush County Historical Society. We would certainly like to see those numbers grow this year,” Linda Levi from The Sampler explained.

Outside of Rush County donations were requested and made to Hospice of Shelby County, Indian Creek Christian Church, Monroe County United Ministries, Indianapolis Humane Society, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “Customers may also come in as a group supporting one particular charitable organization, pool their sales total, and we will donate 20 percent of the total group sale to their chosen charity,” Levi noted.

Small businesses throughout Rush County are solicited for charitable donations often.

“We love to give when we can but it takes profitable sales to provide the dollars necessary to support local charitable efforts. When Rush County shoppers support Rush County retail businesses, they in turn can and will support local endeavors. This promotion gives us a vehicle to give back to the specific groups our customers value,” Levi commented.
