Shelbyville Public Library astronaut and author visit

RUSHVILLE — Shelbyville Public Library announced that this year's events will feature a special visit from Jerry and Karen Ross on March 14 at Shelbyville High School. Jerry is a NASA astronaut who is a veteran of seven space flights. He completed over 1393 hours in space, including 58 hours and 18 minutes on nine EVAs (spacewalks).

Karen was the manager of food and product support with the United Space Alliance. Karen will speak at 6 p.m. in the SHS Golden Bear Room. Jerry will speak at 7 p.m. in the Breck Auditorium. Free tickets are required to attend each presentation. They are available on a first come, first serve basis at the

Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library and Three Sisters Books and Gifts in Shelbyville.

Teens, do not miss the chance to meet author, Mike Mullin and to get a free copy of his book, Ashfall. On April 13, Mike Mullin will be joining the library's teen book discussion group at 4:30 p.m. at the Bookmark. The

library will have limited copies of Ashfall for teens to keep and get signed by Mullins. These books are available to teens on a first come, first serve basis at the library in the youth department. This book is recommended for grades 8 and up.

Come crochet or learn to crochet with Molly Spaeth at the library. She will be offering classes each month for beginners. Please contact Molly for more details (317) 398-7121. If you enjoy crocheting and want to help a good cause, meet Molly and the Shelbyville Spinning Yarns Crochet Club at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 8, April 12, and May 10. The group will be creating items to give to charity. Please bring yarn and your own hook(s).
