Pink Droyd (A Tribute to Pink Floyd)

Saturday, June 1, 2013 | 7 p.m.

RUSHVILLE — The first performance of the 2013 Rushville summer concert series will be with one of the nation’s top touring Pink Floyd tribute acts, Pink Droyd, and will also include a special solo acoustic set from Indiana native Doug Henthorn. The free event is 7 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at the Riverside Park Amphitheater in Rushville, located at 100 West Water Street.

Pink Droyd (A Tribute to Pink Floyd) brings back to the stage an energetic and completely live recreation of the awe-inspiring music of Pink Floyd and is known as one of the best tribute bands touring the Midwest today. For more than four decades the amazing music and live concerts of Pink Floyd have entertained and mesmerized audiences around the world. Their live performances were both aurally astounding and visually brilliant. Today, Pink Droyd brings the look, feel and sound of those shows to audiences around the Midwest. Their show is both accurate to the Pink Floyd music and visually stunning with their robotic, intelligent light show and digital video accompaniment (including the Pink Floyd traditional circular video screen). Pink Droyd brings to life the music of Pink Floyd by including theatrical performances of some of Pink Floyd’s most memorable songs. From visiting “The Dark Side of the Moon” to building “The Wall,” Pink Droyd spans the Pink Floyd catalog including the most memorable hits and some beloved obscure tracks.

A Crawfordsville native, Doug Henthorn found his passion for music as a 7-year-old. In the late 90s, Henthorn played guitar and sang for Pod, a rock band, on Columbia Records. After learning more about the music industry, Henthorn decided to form Healing Sixes. Four records, countless shows and 15 years later, the band decided to call it quits, resulting in Henthorn’s solo acoustic career. More recently, Henthorn returned from a European tour as a guest touring member of Joe Bonamassa’s band, where he played the likes of Royal Albert Hall and the Hammersmith Apollo. Henthorn is featured on the last two John Hiatt albums and several Joe Bonamassa albums and has worked with Tony Levin, Jason Bonham, Pat Thrall and Anton Fig. Henthorn is also a regular studio contributor on projects produced by famed L.A. producer Kevin “Caveman” Shirley.
