---- — The Rushville Consolidated High School Roarin’ Regiment kicked off the 2013-14 school year with a full week of band camp July 22-26 under the direction of T.R. Campbell. Campbell, and a team of teachers and former students led the students throughout the week in marching band fundamentals and beginning to learn the featured music for this year’s half-time shows for the RCHS football season.

The Roarin’ Regiment will bring the classic music of the Beatles to the RCHS Football season halftime shows and fill the stands with the sounds of songs like the 1967 hit, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” the 1966 ground-breaking tune, “Eleanor Rigby,” “Hard Day’s Night” from the soundtrack of the Beatles’ first feature film and finally, “Magical Mystery Tour.”

Plans were also announced for the RCHS Band Boosters annual Fish Fry before the first home football game. The Fish Fry will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in the RCHS Cafeteria. Tickets are available from any RCHS band student or at the door. A portion of the ticket sales will go into the band student accounts and can be used for the next band trip or band equipment and supplies they may need to maintain their instruments.

All parents of band students in middle school and high school are invited encouraged to volunteer and help through the Rush County Band Boosters Organization. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 in the RCHS Band Room. While this meeting is on a Tuesday because of scheduling conflicts, the Band Boosters regular meet the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Band Room. For more information about Band Boosters or to add your information to the e-mail reminder list please contact president Charles Brown at ckssbrown@frontier.com.

The RCHS Roarin’ Regiment will also be appearing in upcoming parades in the community performing music by the Beatles.
