Rehearsals for Briar Patch Players are underway

Briar Patch shows June 22-24

RUSHVILLE — Briar Patch Players summer theater program will present their annual show about life in Rush County at the Laughlin Center for the Performing Art on the RCHS Campus Saturday, Sunday and Monday, June 22-24. Showtimes are 5 and 7 p.m. June 22; 3, 5 and 7 p.m. June 23; 5 and 7 p.m. June 24. Enjoy a cool show and air conditioning during the hot days of the Rush County Fair this summer.

Briar Patch has a long tradition of fun and not so traditional antics about Rush County’s past and “news worthy” items during the past year. Briar Patch is directed by Jennie Tague and will feature a large cast of RCHS students.

“It’s hard to believe this is the 23rd season for Rushville’s Briar Patch Players. The good news, the theatre troupe is as strong as ever with over

40 student participants ready to give you some great shows at the start of fair week this June,” says director Jennie Tague.

Tague and others involved with Briar Patch are asking area businesses, organizations and individuals to consider sponsoring the theatre program with a monetary donation. Show sponsors get their names listed in the program and this year the group will include the names of sponsors within the actual shows in some creative and fun ways.

“We truly want our show sponsors to stand out as great supporters of local student events,” Tague said.

There are four levels of show sponsorship and each level receives a variation of free tickets to the shows. Tickets may be picked up at the door, but to ensure sponsors are named in the program, the donation must be received by today, June 18. Sponsor levels are 4 Stars at $200 with four tickets to each show; 3 Stars at $100 with two tickets to each show; 2 Stars at $50 with four tickets to one show; and 1 Star at $25 with two tickets to one show.

Donations are tax deductible and receipts will be mailed. You may hand deliver your donation to RCHS to ensure that it arrives Tuesday.

Make checks payable to Briar Patch Players, c/o Karen Brashaber, Treasurer, 8182 N. 150 E., Rushville, IN 46173. A portion of all donations are given each year to the Rush County Community Foundation to help fund the Jeff Hufford and Marcia Blair Scholarships. Again, donations must be received by Tuesday so call Jennie Tague at 765-938-3088 with any questions.

Enjoy a cool show and air conditioning during the hot days of the Rush County Fair this summer with Rush County’s own Briar Patch. Don’t miss the opportunity to help support this grand tradition in Rush County this year. Your support is needed and appreciated by all involved and Briar Patch is sure to keep you laughing during the upcoming seven shows.

Call today and become a Briar Patch sponsor.
