Girl Scout cookies at Indiana State Fair

Indianapolis – For the second year, Deep Fried Girl Scout Cookies are being sold through a food vendor on the midway at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 2-18 and new this year customers will have their choice of toppings, including chocolate, caramel or coconut drizzle. Girl Scouts of Central Indiana has again partnered with North American Midway Entertainment (NAME) to sell the delectable treat, which features a Samoa Girl Scout cookie coated in a sweet batter and deep fried to a golden brown with a gooey center. Each order is $5, and NAME will donate all the proceeds to Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. Samoas are the vanilla cookies covered with caramel, rolled in coconut and drizzled with chocolate.

“We are grateful to North American Midway for partnering with us to offer Deep Fried Girl Scout Cookies and for donating the proceeds to Girl Scouts,” said Deborah Hearn Smith, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. “Last year, NAME donated more than $7,000 to Girl Scouts of Central Indiana and our goal for this year is $10,000. I’m pleased to announce that this year all the proceeds will be used to help recruit new Girl Scouts to ensure that all girls who want to be Girl Scouts have that opportunity.”

“Everyone loves eating Girl Scout cookies and now you can enjoy them deep fried with a special topping! We believe it’s always good to give back to the community and it’s our pleasure to support the Girl Scouts,” said Danny Huston, Co-CEO at NAME.
