The parade will stage in the gravel parking lot adjacent to Riverside Park and the amphitheater, the west half of the 100 block of West Water Street, all of the 100 block of South Morgan Street, the alley between the church and the American Legion lot, the American Legion lot, all of the 100 block of North Morgan Street and the 200 block of North Morgan Street. All intersections must remain open.
Annual 4th of July fireworks spectacular is Friday
For the Republican
This year’s July 4 parade will use Morgan Street for the route of travel. The parade will stage in the gravel parking lot adjacent to Riverside Park and the amphitheater, the west half of the 100 block of West Water Street, all of the 100 block of South Morgan Street, the alley between the church and the American Legion lot, the American Legion lot, all of the 100 block of North Morgan Street and the 200 block of North Morgan Street. All intersections must remain open.
The parade will begin at Third and Morgan Streets, proceed north on Morgan, west on 11th to Sexton and end in the gravel fairgrounds’ parking lot. Units wishing to disband are asked to use the fairgrounds’ lot starting the in the northwest corner. Any units continuing north on Sexton Street should not stop on the street.
As always, no pre-registration is required and everyone is invited and encouraged to participate as we celebrate our heritage of freedom. If you have always wanted to be in a parade, now is your chance.
FIREWORKS
The fireworks spectacular will be presented at 10 p.m. Friday in the field north of Rushville Elementary School. It will be choreographed to music aired over radio station WIFE (94.3).
From 7 to 10 p.m. live music will be played on the parking lot north of Rushville Elementary School. Everyone is invited to come early, listen to good music and have fun.
For safety reasons, do not bring your own personal fireworks, such as sparklers, bottle rockets, firecrackers, etc., to the school. These items are very dangerous in crowds and because of insurance regulations are not allowed.
From approximately 5 p.m. until after the fireworks display Sexton Street between 16th Street and Foster Heights Road will be blocked to traffic. Insurance regulations require that no one be allowed in the area of the display.

CAR SHOW
In addition, the annual Optimist car show and swap meet will take place in North Veterans Memorial Park.
Antique and custom cars begin arriving early and will remain on display until mid-afternoon.
Assorted vendors will be on hand.
MIDGET RACING
Finally, TQ midget racing is scheduled to take place Friday evening at the Rush County Fairgrounds racetrack. Tickets available at the gate.
