Our View: On election outcome

Local voters have spoken and their message appears to have been that it is time for a change. Of the seven people elected locally only two were incumbents.

This newspaper would like to thank the five officeholders who lost, as well as the two who won, for their years of service to our community.

We also encourage those elected to keep their campaign promises in mind over the course of the next four years and to work together, as a team, to do what is in the best interest of Rushville and her citizens.

Political affiliation aside, it is now your responsibility to move this community forward, to attract new businesses and jobs, to address housing concerns, to insure that city-provided services are delivered in a courteous and consistent manner and to handle the myriad of other responsibilities you are now charged with.

We also look forward to a smooth transition from the Bridges to the Bostic administration and encourage all involved to demonstrate a spirit of cooperation throughout the process.

We’re hopeful you are up to the task, the future of our community depends on it.
