Don't rely on others to make you happy

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

These words from Martin Luther King Jr. are simple. To sum it up; don’t give up. Keep going. No matter what life throws at you, persevere and don’t let anything get in your way.

If you have something you want to do in life, make it happen. The only way this will happen is if you, yourself, make it happen. You can’t rely on anyone else to help you out, you have to be the one to make your own dreams come to life. One thing I’ve learned in life is you can’t rely on others for happiness. If you want to be truly happy, it has to come from your own doing. No one else can do it for you. As the saying goes; you come into this world alone and you depart from it alone.

Whether it’s a dream or a career, you have to put forth the effort to achieve it. No one makes it to the top by people holding their hand; they have to do it themselves. The sooner you come to accept this statement, the sooner you can begin to rely on yourself for all it is that you need from life. No one else can live your life that is why it was given to you and only you. It’s not for other people to steer and direct.

You must learn that people will let you down in life. There will come a time in your life, guaranteed that someone will let you down. No matter how good that friend is, they are bound to let you down at one point or another. That’s ok. That’s life, it’s going to happen. You were given the power to be YOU from the day you were born. As you grew up, you slowly gave that power away to the world which will begin to influence every choice you make. Slowly you will lose everything that you were born with, everything that makes you the person you were meant to be.
