Greetings, one and all, and welcome! Thanks much for joining me. Mail and other submitted comments have been steady of late so I’ll be brief with my own thoughts. I did, however, want to offer a word of thanks to everyone involved with this year’s Rush County Fair.
I realize it takes a great deal of work by a great many volunteers to make this happen year after year and I, for one, appreciate it. A special word of thanks to the folks from the Extension office. Your help and assistance is invaluable.
With that said, let’s hear it from The Roiling Hundreds!

n So, how could a covered bridge built in 2008 continue to be listed as a "historic place?" Let's face it, having a covered bridge was great, but it's gone. Build a modern bridge in its place and be done with it.
n I think The Why Store concert had a larger than normal crowd. It was really good concert. Sorry you missed it! (So am I. As for the crowd, I cannot disagree with you, but as I indicated the reports I received varied. kg)
n Angel Food Ministries is truly a gift from God. I pray that God continues to bless this ministry for many years to come.
n Fire department consolidation: Let's be a leader on this, not a follower, before it's too late.
n Traffic control at Second and Buena Vista is totally inadequate, as is that at Third and Buena Vista. Anyone should expect to be able to proceed straight ahead westbound on Second or eastbound on Third, given that there is nothing to indicate they should stop or yield to traffic on Buena Vista. In my opinion, those are the two worst intersections in the city. (A “Yield to Approaching Traffic” sign might help. I agree, both are very confusing intersections for folks unfamiliar with them. kg)
n Congrats, Denise! You are so deserving of the title Miss Rush County.
n Why are gas prices in Rush County higher than in any other places in the state?
n Guess who spent more time in front of the (D) booth than in front of the (R) booth? Hint: There were three prominent (R) there at least two nights.
n I was speaking with the Chamber of Commerce and asking about using the cones that were purchased so graciously several years ago by RushShelby Energy for the community's use. It appears the cones have disappeared! I cannot imagine someone being so heartless they would take highway cones away from the community's not-for-profit organizations, but then perhaps I am a cockeyed Optimist! If someone knows the whereabouts of these cones please contact the Chamber office. Thanks for letting me vent! (That is, at least in part, what RR&RT is here for. kg)

Until the next time, I’ll leave you with this:
“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” — William Pitt, British statesman, 1783.
Be good. kg
