Leonard E. Welage, 84 Greensburg, died Saturday June 14, 2008 at the Decatur County Memorial Born Feb. 14, 1924 in Cincinnati, he was the son of Edward G. and Adelaide (Enxel) Welage.
He was a 1942 graduate of Greensburg High School and a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific. On October 3, 1946, he married Dorothy J. Mount and in 1954 they moved to California where he was a Sales Representative for Kraft Foods and retired 33 years later. Leonard and his wife Dorothy returned to Greensburg where he was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and going for long drives.
Survivors include one daughter, Marijean Brush of Concord, Calif.; two grandsons: Matthew and Colen; three sisters, Marie Oliger and Mildred Moeller both of Greensburg and Marjorie Mahan of Rushville; and three brothers, Edward Welage of Saline, Mich., Roger Welage of Greensburg, and Vincent Welage of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers Robert and Richard Welage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m.
