Thomas Edward Orme Jr., 77, of Texas and formerly of Rushville, died Sunday, March 2, 2008.

Born May 4, 1930 in Rushville, he was the son of Thomas E. and Viola Orme, both deceased. He married Joan Sorrell Oct. 28, 1950; she survives.

Mr. Orme was retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following retirement from the Navy he moved back to Rushville and worked at Schnadig Corp. until 1976 at which time he moved to California.

Survivors in addition to his wife include daughters, Dianna (James) Welch of Levering, Mich., Pennie (Larry) Herbert of Rushville and Melissa (Stuart) Funk of Florence, Kansas; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Stevens of Rushville; and brothers, William Orme of Indianapolis and Kenneth Orme of Washington.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Norvell.

A memorial service will be held at the Sharyland Villa complex in Mission, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
