Manilla - During the month of October, RushShelby Energy teamed up with the Rush County United Fund to raise money. In addition to the normal corporate contribution of the electric cooperative, RushShelby Energy agreed to pay $1 to the United Fund for every new “like” received on RSE’s Facebook page.
“We thought was an interesting way to bring younger people into the list of donors to the United Fund,” said Cathy Rhoades, member services representative at RushShelby Energy and the project coordinator. “It is possible we even brought in “likes” from people outside the Rush County area, but the money remains local,” she concluded.
While the campaign did not create a large donation amount, it was an important part of the message of the United Fund that October is the month to give. “Every dollar works to serve the people in Rush County,” said Julie Osting Connolly, executive director of the Rush County United Fund. “However, nearly as important as the dollars, the information campaign reminds people of the good work of the United Fund in their community.”
RushShelby Energy encourages employees to donate to their local United Fund/United Way through payroll deduction. The cooperative makes a donation each year to United Fund campaigns as a part of their corporate citizenship. RushShelby Energy serves nearly 15,000 members in parts of nine Indiana counties.
The Rush County United Fund is a source of funding for non-profit agencies working to serve the residents of Rush county. For more information on the United Fund, call (765) 932-4191.
