Rushville summer concert series offered free of charge

RUSHVILLE — Individuals seeking cultural music entertainment this summer will be able to attend the seven concerts of the Summer Concert Series at the Riverside Park Amphitheater in Rushville free of charge, thanks to a recent $1,000 grant from Vectren Energy Delivery. Curt Poore, Vectren field supervisor, and Bob Rogge, Vectren division manager, presented the check to City of Rushville Mayor Robert M. Bridges.

"Sponsorship, like that received from Vectren, allows the Rushville Amphitheater to offer its seven summer concerts free of charge to a projected attendance of 1,000 to 2,000 people in the community," Bridges said. "We have several great family, fun-filled concerts scheduled for the 2007 series. Our intent is to build upon the success of previous summers."

The Riverside Park Amphitheater is free and open to the public and provides entertainment that is appropriate for the whole family. The 2007 Summer Concert Series will include a Battle of the Bands, an Irish Festival, the country and bluegrass RushFest and performances by Carmel Symphony, Toy Factory and Bahama Llama, Henry Lee Summer and the Alligator Brothers and Sam Lay. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the shows this summer.

Vectren strives to contribute to the well-being of the communities it serves, and one way is contributing to arts and culture organizations.

"Funding a project that enhances a community through its arts and culture reflects our commitment to provide more than just reliable utility service to central Indiana," Mark Miller, Vectren’s community affairs manager, said.
