Former Rushville residents Norman and Dee Copple will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary May 10 with a family dinner and Card Shower hosted by their children. The couple resides at 2055 Ashford Place, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Clyde Norman Copple and Delories May Lepper were united in marriage on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1953, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Rushville by Rev. Lee Jarrott.
The couple lived most of their married life in Rushville, where they owned and operated several businesses in the downtown district, including the Firestone Store and Firestone Tire & Service Center, True Value Hardware, and Radio Shack, which remains a part of the downtown today.
Norman and Dee participated in several clubs and organizations within the community of Rushville, as well as serving in their church. They both love Rushville, and feel it was the perfect community to raise their family!
The Copple’s are the parents of three children: daughter Penny Sue Gordon (wife of the late Bill Gordon) of Rushville; daughter Nancy Ann Tucker (and husband, David) of Greenwood; and son Bruce Norman Copple (and wife, Paula) of Greensburg.
The couple is proud of their five grandchildren, Matthew Gordon (and wife, Joni), Christopher Ralstin (and wife, Jackie), and Katie McLaughlin, all of Rushville; Brandon Tucker (and wife, Katie) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Benjamin Copple of Indianapolis. The Copple’s have also been blessed with eight great-granchildren, Jarrod, Jonathan, McKenna, Jake, Crace, Eli, Mollie and Lydia. Rounding out the family is Norman’s service dog, Justus.
Due to health issues, Norman and Dee sold the family home on Harrison Street in 2010 and moved to Shelbyville, where they reside today.
The family will celebrate by attending worship services together at St. Paul’s on Mother’s Day, and enjoy a family dinner at the home of their daughter.
Friends and former neighbors are invited to participate in a Card Shower for the couple by sending greetings to 2055 Ashford Place, Shelbyville, IN 46176. It will be a great blessing to them to hear from you!
