RUSHVILLE — Happy harvest Backroad Riders! The club met Oct. 13 at the horse park. We had six members and three youth members in attendance. Beth Bockover read the minutes from the previous meeting. She would also apologize and add two members that had good county fairs in their 4-H club, Kaylee Nichols and Infinity Everett, and Miss Kristian Maggard on winning the Rush County Fair Queen Contest. Susie Odum gave the treasurer’s report giving a balance.

Old business that was brought up was the Family Fun Weekend. The weather was perfect for the two day show. Saturdays show brought both adult and youth out for some friendly competition. Highlights from the show were the adult stick horse judged by the kids, the gummy worm dig, and the surprise class. The surprise class was a costume class. The participants had twenty minutes to get them and their horses dressed. We had Justin Freese as a football player and ball, Emma Ferree as the three horse amigos, Ryan Case as a cowboy, Ainsley Flannery as a football player and Kaylee Nichols as an angel. Dr. James Todd from Rushville Chiropractic was out on the grounds giving animals adjustments. Almost every horse on the grounds was adjusted. Anyone interested in contacting Dr. Todd can call 765-932-4234 for appointments.

Saturday after the show the fire was ready for the wiener roast. Several sat around the fire and enjoyed the company while others played corn hole. Those playing corn hole were Kelly Freese, Ryan Case, Angel Street, Charlie Robertson and Roger Cable. The kids enjoyed Roger Cable teaching them how to throw a lasso. Sunday started off with a cowboy challenge course. The course included: The gate, a bridge with tarp underneath, carrying buckets to barrels, noodle wash, backing through trash, mailbox, dragging a bag of cans, trotting over logs, and carrying a flag. Champion of the challenge was Miss Infinity Everett, reserve champion was Mrs. Teresa Case. We had six entries in the challenge. After the show was over we all enjoyed a pitch in dinner. The points for the weekend were tallied and the Family Fun Weekend High-Point winner went to Miss Emma Ferree and runner up for the weekend went to Miss Infinity Everett. We need to thank everyone that pitched in to make this show a success.

New business is the Christmas dinner. The Christmas dinner will be held Dec. 8 at St. Marys. The meeting discussed the awards for the high point winners and door prizes. There will be several raffles to give away. This dinner will also be a pitch in with the club providing the meat. We are asking everyone to RSVP to Beth Bockover at 765-561-8672 by call or text. Also think of any nominations for officers for the 2013 season. We will be voting at the dinner. Memberships will also be available at the awards. Dues are $25 for family and $15 for single.
