Dairy Foods Judging

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Talented FFA members put their skills to the test in Career Development Events. The Rushville FFA Chapter has become very successful at the Dairy Foods Career Development Event, after many years of participating in this competition under the guidance of Mr. Orme. The Dairy Foods CDE consists of many parts. These parts include identifying cheeses, taking a quiz over the dairy industry, identifying any problems with diary milking equipment, identifying defects in milk, judging a CMT test, and identifying dairy and non-dairy products. In January, the Rushville Dairy Foods teams made the trip to participate in the State Dairy Foods Judging contest. For the second year in a row, Rushville took home the top spot. Jill Yager, Michaela Orme, Alicia Cole, and Caysi Johnson were members of the first place team. Jill Yager was third individual overall, and Michaela Orme was the fourth individual overall. This team will be participating in the National Dairy Foods contest at National Convention in October. Rushville also took home the fourth place team. This team consisted of Becca Rich, Even Hallgarth, Maria Geise and Garrett Sammons. Congratulations to all Dairy Foods members!
