District IX FFA Convention

RUSHVILLE — The Rushville FFA Chapter took some very dedicated FFA members to the District IX FFA Convention on March 8. These members competed with 15 other chapters in our district. Many of these members will be advancing to state convention in June.

The following members received a first place. Raegan Smith and Becca Riggs with their Ag and Farm Business Management Demo, Ross Pickering and Collin Gordon with their Ag Mechanics and Technology Demo, Sarah Harpring and Nicole Hoeing with their Horticulture Science Demo, Emma Harpring in Creed Speaking, Caroline Kuhn in Prepared Public Speaking, Laura Smith in Freshman Prepared Public Speaking, Caroline Kuhn with her Scrapbook, and the members of Alfalfa June (Michaela Orme, Ross Pickering, Evan Hallgarth, and Jessica Miller) won the Talent contest. The Rushville FFA also won the Exhibit contest.

These FFA members received second place awards. Katie Schroeder and Caysi Johnson with their Food Science Demo, Jill and Casey Yager with their Plant and Soil Science Demo, Mason Gordon in Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Katy Newbold in Freshman Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Caroline Kuhn in Leadership Ambassador, and Tyler Dawson in Ag Sales. The Quiz Bowl team (Nate Buening, Liz Field, Matthew Neuman, and Dylan Marlatt) also received a second place award. Austin Hubbell and Sam Yager won third with their Natural Resource Demo.

Jill Yager and Becca Riggs are both slated to become District Officers. Fun was had by all! Congratulations on a very successful evening!
