Published October 04, 2005 03:43 pm - Adopted home of presidential candidate Wendell
Willke and the site of his national campaign headquarters in 1940, and symbolic
home of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, Rush County is proud of its past, secure in
its present, and prepared for the future.

Located in the heartland of rural Indiana and
boasting several family farms, Rush County is also proud to be home to a diversified industry base, featuring manufacturing operations small and large.

The county also benefits from having its own hospital. Rush Memorial hospital
provides a full range of state of the art services.

A large and industrious Amish community also
calls Rush County home, and tourists frequently travel to Rush County to see and
enjoy the slower pace of life it offers.

Rush County is also home to four historically
renovated and fully functional covered bridges, designed and built by the Kennedy brothers, who are famous for such structures throughout the Midwest.

The Rushville Republican began serving Rush
County residents as the Rushville Whig in 1840, making it the oldest daily
publication the state of Indiana.
